1.ELEVATORS
* PARTS OF AN ELEVATOR :-
1.Handle - used for holding instrument.
2.Shank - connects handle with blade
3.Blade - engages the crown and root to be removed.
* INDICATION :-
- to reflect mucoperiosteum
- to widen the periodontal ligament space before applying forceps.
- to luxate and remove the tooth from its socket.
*COMMONLY USED ELEVATORS :-
- Straight elevator
- apexo elevator
- crossbar elevator
2.FORCEPS
* PARTS OF FORCEPS :-
1.Pair of handle
2.Pair of beaks
3.A hinge
* maxillary forceps :-
Upper anterior forceps - straight and beaks are joined
Upper premolar forceps - slightly angulated and beaks do not meet eachother
Right maxillary molar forceps -
Buccal beak is pointed to engage the furcation between MB and DB roots, palatal beak is
roundedto engage the single palatal root.
